For the past 2 years, I was a cog by day and a machine by night. Both roles have their merits but only one of them could produce this album. I quit the job a bit early to focus on piecing together the fragments I’ve had laying around. The final collection of sounds is by no means perfect but is an accurate reflection of where I’ve been all this time.
Even though my brother wrote lyrics for three of the songs independently, he and I have enough in common that the album centers around information asymmetry–the kind we regularly encounter as friends, family, lovers, and strangers. The hypothetical and real-time consequences (i.e. mass confusion) of those asymmetries occupy my thoughts most of the time anyway.
I’m saying goodbye to the home studio for now, but I trust that it will be replaced with something more capable in the future. Let me know if you find these songs enjoyable at all.
